Eye Conditions

Blepharitis

Blepharitis is an eye condition that is quite common. When the eyelid’s oil glands become inflamed, you may experience eye redness, swelling, irritation, and itching. While this condition is not contagious and does not cause lasting damage to your vision, it can cause a lot of distress for people who suffer from it. Crusting may occur around the eyelids, making it difficult to see.

To help manage your blepharitis symptoms, Dr. Croley can prescribe eyedrops and medication or recommend management of another health condition (such as rosacea or dandruff) if that is the underlying cause.

Floaters

Floaters are tiny, dark shapes that can appear in your vision. They may look like spots, threads, or squiggly lines. Usually caused by age-related changes, floaters can develop when collagen fibers cast shadows in the retina, causing you to see dark shapes that impair your vision. While most floaters are harmless and can disappear on their own, it’s important to treat them if they do not go away. Surgery may be required to prevent seeing floaters in the future, but Dr. Croley will asses your eye condition during your initial consultation to find out the best treatment for you.

Dry Eye

When the eyes become dry or aren’t wet enough, you may experience dry eyes. This common condition results in symptoms such as blurred vision, red eyes, or a dry and scratchy feeling across the eyes. There are many treatments for dry eye that are easily accessible to most patients. It’s important to address dry eye symptoms if they do not go away after at-home attempts are made to cure them. Dry eyes that are left untreated may lead to eye inflammation, abrasion of the corneal surface, corneal ulcers, and vision loss.
