Thomas Croley, MD

Thomas L. Croley, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1982 and finished his medical internship and ophthalmology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has received specialized training in cataract surgery, LASIK Eye Surgery, PRK Eye Surgery, and intraocular lens implantation.

Background

Dr. Croley’s outside interests include coaching Little League, piloting his own private plane and committing his time to community service activities here in Ocala. Once a highly regarded professional baseball prospect, he left his own “field of dreams” to pursue a greater dream in the field of medicine.

His efforts resulted in the creation of Central Florida Eye Institute in Ocala, which is Marion County’s first Ambulatory Outpatient Care Center. With over 25 employees, Central Florida Eye Institute is considered by many to be one of Florida’s premier eye care facilities.

Education

As one of the industry leading eye doctors, Dr. Croley has presented educational programs on emerging eye technology to national and international organizations. Here in Ocala, Dr. Croley has also been involved in a number of FDA clinical studies to increase the effectiveness of eye medications. He works closely with several national agencies to develop and improve the use and style of intra-ocular lenses to make them better and safer for cataract patients.

Dr. Croley commits numerous hours each year to additional specialized training in ophthalmology to provide the latest advances and technology to his patients. In addition, he shares this knowledge and training with other eye specialists, eye clinics, and medical professionals and has designed his surgery facility so that they can observe surgical procedures in progress.

Dr. Croley also provides free educational seminars to our Ocala & Marion County community for large or small groups. Dr. Croley believes good medicine is a partnership and is happy to share eye care and health information and technology with others so they may be informed about how to keep their eyes healthy for a lifetime of good vision.

Dr. Croley is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society and the Florida Ophthalmic Society. His special interest is in the treatment of cataracts, glaucoma and laser vision correction surgery (LASIK/PRK).

Dr. Courtney Croley Pumarol is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and eye surgeon bringing a modern, personalized approach to vision, eye health, and facial aesthetics.

Born and raised in Ocala, Dr. Croley Pumarol grew up around Central Florida Eye Institute, watching her father, Dr. Thomas Croley, care for generations of local families. Today, she is proud to continue that legacy while introducing the latest advances in cataract surgery, refractive vision correction, medical eye care, and cosmetic eyelid procedures.

Dr. Croley Pumarol earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and her medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency through HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital and the University of South Florida, where she served as Chief Resident.
